Our Story
FanParks began with a simple idea: to bring people together through football on the big screen.
The concept was founded by Geir Oterhals in October 2005, with a vision to create public fan parks where football could be experienced collectively, beyond the stadium. The first event took place at Kontraskjæret in central Oslo during the 2006 FIFA World Cup. What started as Fotballfesten in Norway quickly grew into the country’s largest public football event.
From Fotballfesten to FanParks International
In the early years, the focus was on major men’s tournaments such as the FIFA World Cup and the UEFA European Championship. From 2019, women’s competitions became an integral part of the concept.
In 2022, the concept expanded internationally through FanParks International, enabling licensed fan parks to be delivered across several European countries.
What we do today
Today, Fan Parks specialises in licensed football screenings and live fan park experiences. In addition to the World Cup and the Euro, we organise events around the UEFA Champions League, Nations League, national team matches, and domestic cup competitions.
We provide a complete framework — combining rights licensing, our own ticketing system, and hands-on event organisation.
